Trying to produce comics on a more consistent basis. It's been a challenge lately. This one is based on a recent conversation I had.

What to do?

New comic! I started this in one direction and then changed it. I may modify it another time. This version was also influenced by some graphic novels I've been reading lately.

It's been way too long since I did a comic. A lot has been going on and I've been in a slump. Trying to pull myself out of it. This comic has been on my mind for a long time. Finally got down to completing it. I hope you enjoy it!

Father's Day

It's been a long time since I posted anything new.  I started this comic last summer, then abandoned it.  I recently went back and finished it.  It's about my Father's Day celebration with my daughter the summer of 2015.

Big Bad Boris hires "Samurai Girl" - inks

The Noir comic, "No Right Turn" is continuing.  Now the collaboration among the artist is growing.  Now, we have teams working on panels and pages.  I've been teamed up with the Laura Vasquez, who will be coloring in my pages.

My assignment, "Boris hires the samurai girl".

I decided that the scene would take place over two pages.

Here is the first page with just the inks that I sent to Laura for coloring.  When I get the colored page, I'll post it.

"No Right Turn" Page 2 Panel 5

Last time, I posted a panel I did for a collaborative Noir comic called "No Right Turn".  Here is another panel I did a while ago for a different story line in the comic.

 I'm working on a couple new pages for the comic.  I'm doing the pencils and the inks and someone else in the group will be doing the coloring.  I'll post them as soon as they're ready.

"No Right Turn" panel 4 - a group project

It's been way too long, since I posted anything.

I've been working on other project and not much in terms of comics.  One of the things I've been doing is working with a group of sketchers on Facebook.  This group started from an Urban Sketchers group and then splintered off.  One of the subgroups is a comics group.

We spontaneously started working on an organic, Noir comic called "No Right Turn".    It's still a work in process.  You can see the current status of the comic here:

Life can be difficult

Well, it's been quite a while since I posted anything to this blog.  Sorry about that.  I've been working on other projects.

I've been working on painting, pen and ink drawing and urban sketching.  With this comic, I return to the old fashioned pen and ink on bristol board.  The lettering was done in GIMP, which I'm not used to using, since I can't get Photoshop to work on my new computer.

Okay, enough excuses, with apologies to my vegetarian and vegan friends, here is my latest comic.  Enjoy!

At Peace

Here is a new one.  I'm trying to be more productive, but life keeps getting in the way! 

This is a conversation that happened November of last year.  I was sorting through some papers and came across my notes on the conversation.  As soon as I read my notes, I knew I had to do this one next.

Interesting

Well, after a long hiatus, I'm back.  I've been trying to get more done, but time seems to slip away.   Okay, I was on vacation for a week, so that added to the delay.

Additionally, I've got something new for you.  Color!  This one page autobiographical piece is my first foray into full color, so be gentle with me.

A Zen Tale - Page 8

Well, here it is the final page!  This is the long awaited conclusion to "I Bring Nothing", an adaptation of a Zen tale.

Believe it or not, this is the longest story I've done, since I did comics in junior high! 

I will post the complete story in one posting so it will be easier to read, but I need to make some minor changes to two of the pages first.

Whew!  Has it really been that long?!  Time really flies.  I was out of town, Thanksgiving, blah, blah, blah.

Well, sorry it took me so long to finish this page.  Like I've said before doing this comic has been a challenge, but also very rewarding.

A Zen Tale - Page 5

Whew!  It seems like each page takes more to do than the last one.  It's been a busy week, but here is page 5 of "I Bring Nothing!"   I'm hoping that the next couple of pages will be a bit easier.

Well, better late than never!  Also, Good things are worth waiting for. 

This project has been more involved than I anticipated.  But it also has been more rewarding.

I'm going to get page 5 out as soon as I can.  I hoping things will speed up over the next few pages.

A Zen Tale - P2 "pencils"

Sorry to say, I am behind schedule at this point.  I was trying to finish a page a week, but the page few pages have been much more complex and involved that I thought they were going to be.  I am working hard on page 4 and I think you will really like it, but it's going to take a few more days to complete.

In the meantime, I wanted to share with you some of my process.  Here are my "pencils" for page 2.  I put pencils in quotes, because I've been working 100% digitally for the past few comics.  Instead of pencils, I usually call them roughs.  Some are rougher than others.

Usually, in Manga Studio they are blue line, but when I exported them, they came out grayscale.
